Robert S. Cassatt was a U.S. banker, politician, and businessman. He is the father of Alexander Cassatt, who served as the seventh president of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Alexander Cassatt was married to Marie Lois Buchanan Cassatt, who was the daughter of Edward Young Buchanan, the son of James Buchanan, Sr., and the niece of U.S. President James Buchanan. James Buchanan, Sr. lived from 1761 to 1821, and James Buchanan, the niece's great-granduncle, served as President of the United States from 1857 to 1861.
