Lin Jiamei

Lin Jiamei, born in the mid-20th century, with her exact birth year not publicly disclosed, is a renowned Chinese expert in maternal and child health as well as a political figure. She graduated from Shanghai Tongde Medical College in 1949 with a background in medical education. After graduation, Lin Jiamei worked in the pediatrics department at Hubei Provincial People's Hospital, serving as a pediatrician.

Subsequently, she served as Vice President of Wuhan Maternal and Child Health Hospital, responsible for maternal and child health management. At the same time, she played an important role in the national family planning efforts, serving as Deputy Director of the Office of the State Council Family Planning Leadership Group and as a member of the Family Planning Committee. Additionally, she was director of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the Ministry of Health, overseeing policies and administrative affairs related to maternal and child health.

Beyond her official positions, Lin Jiamei has held significant influence within the Chinese medical community. Starting in 1984, she served successively as Vice President of the Chinese Medical Association, Director of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the Ministry of Health, and President of the Chinese Women Physicians Association. During the 8th CPPCC, she was Deputy Director of the Science, Education, Culture, Health, and Sports Committee.

In her personal life, Lin Jiamei married Li Xiannian in 1949, and they have three children: two daughters, Li Ziyang and Li Xiaolin, and a son, Li Ping. Reports indicate that she played an important role within her family, jointly raising her children with her husband.

Records show that in 1978, she assisted in restoring the Zhu Ge Revolutionary Memorial Hall in Quhe, Hanyang County, Henan Province, including transplanting pomegranate trees to restore the site associated with Liu Shaoqi. In November 1998, when Liu Shaoqi's wife, Wang Guangmei, and his son, Liu Yuan, visited Zhu Ge, they heard the story of the pomegranate tree and expressed their gratitude to Lin Jiamei and others involved. On January 28, 2005, during the Spring Festival tea gathering of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Lin Jiamei, as the widow of the late non-Communist CPPCC member and a well-known figure, attended the event with other spouses to celebrate the New Year.
