Introduction

Li Ziyang, born in September 1950 in Wuchang County, Hubei Province. Her family background is that of a family of leading cadres. In June 1968, she enlisted in the military in Beijing, becoming a member of the People's Liberation Army of China. In April of the same year, she officially joined the Chinese Communist Party. In June 1970, she entered Sun Yat-sen Medical College in Guangzhou to study medicine.

Throughout her medical career, Li Ziyang worked successively at the Air Force Beijing Hospital and the 305 Hospital. In April 1975, she was appointed as a military doctor at the Air Force Beijing Hospital, and in June 1987, promoted to attending physician in the specialized diagnosis department. In April 1990, she was appointed deputy chief physician of the laboratory department at the 305 Hospital. By December 1995, she was promoted to deputy director of the laboratory department. During her work, she was recognized for outstanding performance and awarded a third-class merit in January 1989.

She was approved for retirement on November 20, 1999. After retiring, she was settled in October 2008 at the Kunyu Rest Home for retired military cadres in Beijing.

During her medical career, Li Ziyang demonstrated a high sense of responsibility and professionalism. She actively participated in the introduction and construction of hospital equipment, purchasing the first spiral CT scanner for Sun Yat-sen Medical College, promoting the development of nuclear medicine at the 305 Hospital, procuring bone density analyzers, and establishing channels for duty-free importation of advanced instruments. These measures significantly advanced the hospital’s technological development and service quality.

After retirement, she focused on promoting the development of the Chinese Women Physicians Association, serving as Executive Vice President and legal person, actively promoting the establishment of the national women physicians association. She paid attention to ideological, moral, cultural, and disciplinary education for female medical workers, organized the National Women’s Contributions commendation conference, and promoted the dissemination of scientific research achievements. She also organized international exchanges, leading teams to the United States, Germany, Japan, Australia, and other countries, and participated in establishing the China Women Physicians Association’s Global Women’s Science and Technology Award.

In addition, she organized numerous health promotion and public welfare activities. For example, the “Chinese Women Physicians Deliver Health to China” campaign involved breast cancer prevention education across various provinces and cities; the “Red Journey to Healthy Western Regions” visited veterans of the Western Revolutionary Army to promote heroic deeds and health knowledge; she organized medical experts for free clinics in Bazhong and barefoot doctor training to contribute to poverty alleviation and healthcare in revolutionary old areas.

As a member of the Standing Committee of the All-China Women’s Federation, she helped establish the China Women’s Health Research Institute, participated in screening programs for the “Two Cancers” (cervical and breast), and engaged in legal and health promotion public welfare projects. In terms of elder care, she actively promoted the “Elderly Care Project.” She also participated in establishing a chorus for descendants of generals to promote revolutionary spirit.

Li Ziyang has always adhered to integrity and dedication, with upright conduct and selfless devotion. She emphasizes helping the weak, maintains a simple lifestyle, and embodies excellent professional ethics and personal qualities. She actively practices the duties and mission of Communist medical personnel through concrete actions, earning widespread respect both domestically and internationally.
