Introduction

Li Xiaoling, born in 1969, is one of the key members of the China Society for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Her early career began from 1969 to 1972 when she served as a soldier in the 23rd Mapping Brigade of the General Staff Department. Subsequently, she received higher education from 1972 to 1975 at the Department of Foreign Languages at Wuhan University. From 1975 to 1982, she worked in the United States Department of the China Foreign Friendship Association, holding positions as an officer, deputy director, and director.

In academia, Li Xiaoling studied at the University of California, Los Angeles from 1982 to 1983, earning a master's degree in history. After returning to China, she continued working at the China Foreign Friendship Association, serving from 1983 to 1990 as an officer, deputy director, and director of the U.S. Department. In the same year, she was dispatched to the Chinese Embassy in the United States, serving as First Secretary until 1992.

Subsequently, Li Xiaoling's career advanced steadily. In 1992, she became the director of the U.S. Department at the China Foreign Friendship Association. From 1992 to 1996, she served successively as deputy director and director of the U.S. Department. In 2002, she was promoted to Vice Chairperson and Party Group Member of the China Foreign Friendship Association, serving until 2007. Then, from 2007 to 2011, she served as Executive Vice President and Party Secretary; from 2011 to 2020, she was the President and Party Secretary of the China Foreign Friendship Association.

In public political life, Li Xiaoling has held many significant positions. She was a delegate to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and a member of the 10th, 11th, and 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. She concurrently served as President of the 10th National Council of the China Foreign Friendship Association and as a standing member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, as well as Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

In her personal life, Li Xiaoling married Liu Yazhou on March 3, 1979, and they have one son. Her family background is highly influential; her father was Li Xiannian, a former President of China, and her mother was Lin Jiaming, the former Deputy Director of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference’s Science, Education, Culture, Health, and Sports Committee. Her husband, Liu Yazhou, has served as Political Commissar of the National Defense University.
