Emma Caroline Smith-Stanley, Countess of Derby (née Bootle-Wilbraham), was born in 1805 and died on 26 April 1876. She was the daughter of Edward Bootle-Wilbraham, 1st Baron Skelmersdale. In May 1825, she married Edward Smith-Stanley, who later became the 14th Earl of Derby.
Emma and Edward Smith-Stanley had three children:
- Edward Henry Stanley, who became the 15th Earl of Derby.
- Frederick Arthur Stanley, the 16th Earl of Derby, who served as a Governor-General of Canada and is known as the man after whom the Stanley Cup is named.
- Emma Charlotte Stanley, their only daughter, who died on 23 August 1928. Emma Charlotte married Wellington Patrick Manvers Chetwynd Talbot, son of Charles Chetwynd-Talbot, the 2nd Earl Talbot.
