Introduction

Jiang Jieqing was born in August 1912 in Ba County, Hebei Province. She enrolled at National Beiping Normal University in 1930, actively participating in multiple progressive groups led by the underground Communist Party during her school years, including the "Emerging Theatre Troupe" and the "Normal University Student Society." In 1931, she joined the Leftist Writers' League and became involved in political and cultural activities.

After graduating in 1934, Jiang Jieqing worked as a teacher at Peicai School in Tianjin. The following year, she began participating in the work of the Beijing Women’s Salvation Committee, dedicating herself to women’s liberation and social service endeavors. In June 1936, she formally joined the Chinese Communist Party and became an active member. In November 1939, she established a revolutionary partnership with Comrade Peng Zhen and served as his secretary.

In August 1943, Jiang Jieqing arrived in Yan'an to participate in the Rectification Movement, which aimed to rectify Party thoughts and conduct and strengthen Party discipline. After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, she worked successively in the Northeast Bureau of the CCP Central Committee, the Jin-Cha-Ji Central Bureau, and the CCP Central Policy Research Office, supporting the formulation of Party policies. From February 1949, she worked in the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CCP, beginning her political career in Beijing.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Jiang Jieqing served as Peng Zhen’s political secretary and deputy director of his office. She also held the position of deputy director of the Third Women's Federation in Beijing’s women’s system. During the Cultural Revolution, she was subjected to struggle sessions, persecution, and was detained for nearly eight years. In 1978, she was appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Shangluo Region in Shaanxi Province and later became a member and Standing Committee member of the Shangluo Regional Committee of the CCP by the end of that year. Starting from 1980, she served successively as Deputy Secretary-General and Advisor to the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the CCP.

Jiang Jieqing served as a delegate to the Third National People's Congress and as a member of the Seventh Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Her career spanned a broad range of political and social positions, participating in significant historical events and organizational work in China, thereby influencing the development of relevant Chinese political institutions.
