Li Yichun (born Li Chongying) was born in 1899 in Changsha, Hunan Province. In her early years, she studied in Changsha alongside Yang Kaihui and others. She joined the revolution in 1923 and became a member of the Chinese Communist Party. She taught at the Guangzhou Agricultural Lecture Institute, the Whampoa Military Academy, and the Wuhan Agricultural Lecture Institute. In 1923, Li Yichun married Li Lisan and participated in the workers' movement with him. In 1925, she went to Moscow to attend the Comintern Congress and then studied at Sun Yat-sen University. In 1927, she returned to China to dedicate herself to the Great Revolution and kept records at the Fifth National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. After the failure of the revolution, she engaged in underground work for the Party in the White Area; she was arrested in 1933 but was rescued from prison by the Party organization. She worked at Lu Xun Normal School in Yan'an and at the Shaanxi-Gan-Ning Border Area Administrative College. After 1949, she held positions in Beidaihe and at government agencies in Beijing directly under the central authorities. Li Yichun passed away on May 17, 1984, in Beijing, at the age of 85. Her family history includes marriages with Yang Kaizhi, Li Lisan, and Cai Hesen, and she had multiple children. Throughout her revolutionary, anti-Japanese war, and nation-building activities, Li Yichun made significant contributions to the Party and the people.
