Yang Kaizhi was born in August 1898 in Changsha County. His father, Yang Changji, was an educator, and his younger sister, Yang Kaihui, was an early member of the Chinese Communist Party. Growing up in a nurturing family environment and influenced by his father, Yang K Zhi actively sought to learn from progressive youth. After the family moved to Beijing in 1918, he participated in discussions about China's revolution and embraced communist ideals. In 1921, he was admitted to the National Beijing Agricultural School. Under his father's influence, he actively engaged in socialist study groups, learning and researching Marxism. After graduating in 1925, he worked at Beijing Normal University for Women and participated in student movements. In 1931, he fled with Mao Zedong's children to escape the White Terror, providing shelter and support for Mao. Following the liberation of Hunan in 1949, Yang K Zhi held several positions in agriculture and forestry, contributing to the development of tea industry in Hunan. As a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, he promoted social progress. Until his death, he actively participated in social activities, wrote memoirs to commemorate martyrs, and educated the younger generation. Yang Kaizhi passed away in 1982 at the age of 84. His family background and personal experiences demonstrated his firm beliefs and spirit of sacrifice in revolutionary endeavors.
