Introduction
Cai Lin, born on June 7, 1929 in Shanghai, was a native of Shuangfeng County, Hunan Province. His father, Cai Hesen, was serving in the Communist International at the time of his birth, and his mother, Li Yichun, carried out underground party work in Shanghai. Due to difficult family conditions, his mother entrusted the six-month-old Cai Lin to others for care. After the liberation of Shanghai in 1949, his foster mother Li Mengjun proactively went to Beijing, contacted the Central Organization Department, and completed the procedures to bring Cai Lin back. After the liberation, he attended the East China Three Armies Military-Political University, and later studied and graduated from the Public Administration Department at Renmin University of China. After graduation, Cai Lin worked at Beijing No. 1 Cotton Spinning Factory and Beijing No. 3 Cotton Spinning Factory, and joined the Communist Party of China. He was subsequently transferred to the Beijing Institute of Chemical Fiber Industry (now Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology), where he served successively as Propaganda Officer, Head of the United Front Work Department, and Director of the Party Committee Office, retiring in 1990.
Cai Lin devoted his life to the Party’s educational cause, spending many years in party affairs and education work at the college. His death information is as follows: he passed away in Beijing at 21:35 on March 13, 2009, due to illness, at the age of 80. On March 17, a farewell ceremony for his body was held at the funeral hall of Peking University Hospital, attended by colleagues from the Central Organization Department, the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Municipal Education Working Committee, as well as Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology leaders, faculty and staff, retired veterans, student representatives, and relatives and friends, numbering over a hundred people.
