Introduction
Lady Amelia Jenkinson (née Watts) was born in December 1750 in Calcutta, India. She was the daughter of William Watts and his wife, Begum Johnson. Her maternal grandmother was of mixed Portuguese and Indian descent.
On 9 February 1769, Amelia Watts married Sir Charles Jenkinson, who later became the 1st Earl of Liverpool. The marriage took place in England, though specific details about the ceremony are not provided. The union produced at least one child, a son named Robert Jenkinson, born on 7 June 1770.
Amelia Jenkinson died on 12 July 1770, approximately five weeks after the birth of her son. Her death was due to complications arising from childbirth. She is buried at the Church of St Mary in Hawkesbury.
There exists an early portrait believed to have been painted by Joshua Reynolds, which is thought to depict Amelia Watts.
