Yu Zhen

Yu Zhen, who graduated in 1982 from Shandong Normal University Affiliated High School and in 1986 from Shandong University of Architecture and Engineering with a bachelor's degree. She then worked at Shandong University of Architecture and Engineering, with research focusing on the theory and applications of engineering graphics. She published many papers, including “The Interrelationship Between Lines and Three-Dimensional Space in the Geometry of Four-Dimensional Drawing.” On December 30, 2007, she won the second prize in the first national multimedia teaching courseware competition for civil engineering majors in higher education institutions.

Personal life:

Yu Zhen’s husband is Wei Zhongli, born August 16, 1963, from Dongyang, Zhejiang. After completing his combined bachelor’s and master’s studies, he earned a master’s degree in mathematics from Shandong University in 1989. After graduation, he joined Shandong University of Architecture and Engineering, where he has held roles including a university-level academic backbone training program participant, was promoted to associate professor in 1996 and to professor in 1998, and previously served as the vice dean of the College of Science at Shandong University of Architecture and Engineering. He has also been a PhD supervisor at Shandong University and a director/member of the Shandong Mathematical Society. Yu Zhen’s son is Wei Dongyi, born in 1991 in Jinan. Wei Dongyi studied at Shandong Normal University Affiliated High School during high school, and won international gold medals at the 49th and 50th International Mathematical Olympiads in consecutive years. In 2010 he was admitted to Peking University through a special program for co-enrollment in bachelor’s and master’s/phD studies, began postdoctoral work in December 2017 at the Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research, and after graduating in 2019 stayed on at the university as a faculty member.

In 2012, Yu Zhen attended her 30-year class reunion.
