Introduction
Wei Zhongli, born on August 16, 1963 in Dongyang City, Zhejiang Province, is a native of Baihuishang Natural Village, Dongping Village, Dongcheng Street, Dongyang City. He graduated from Dongyang High School in 1981, and after repeating for one year entered Shandong University in 1982. He completed the integrated bachelor's-master's program and earned his master's degree from the Department of Mathematics, Shandong University, in 1989.
After obtaining his master's degree, Wei Zhongli joined Shandong Institute of Construction Engineering (the predecessor of Shandong University of Architecture) as a faculty member. In 1993, he was selected as a university-level backbone academic talent in training; in 1996 he was promoted to associate professor by exceptional appointment; in 1998 he was selected as a National Excellent Teacher, and in the same year he was exceptionally promoted to full professor. In 1998 and again from March to June 2002, he was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, supervised by Professor Ji Shujie, conducting research related to variational methods and critical point theory. From 1999 to 2008, he served as an editorial board member of the Journal of Shandong University of Architecture and Engineering and as a member of the university Academic Committee. During this period, in June 2004, he was exceptionally appointed as a doctoral supervisor at Shandong University.
From 2001 to 2009, he served as the Vice Dean of the College of Science at Shandong University of Construction (Shandong University of Architecture); he was recognized as an outstanding young and middle-aged expert in Shandong Province, elected to the fifth batch of outstanding young and middle-aged academic backbones in Shandong Province, and elected as a council member of the Shandong Mathematical Society. In December 2013, he was appointed as a second-level professor at Shandong University of Architecture. Regarding his passing, The Paper (Pengpai News) reported in 2021 that a campus staff member stated he had died several years earlier.
Research direction: Since 1986, his research has focused on nonlinear functional analysis and its applications to differential equations, including multiple solutions and the asymptotic properties of boundary-value problems for impulsive integral-differential equations, the existence of positive solutions for functional differential equations and difference equations, and critical point theory. As a key member of project teams, he undertook and completed four National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects, led and completed three Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation projects, participated in one NSFC project and led one Shandong Province NSFC project. His research results have been published in various domestic and international core journals, with more than 70 papers, of which more than 20 are indexed by SCI; 13 SCI papers as first author, and 3 papers in top-tier journals.
In teaching, his undergraduate courses included Advanced Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Real Analysis, etc.; his graduate courses included Mathematical Physics Methods, Numerical Analysis, Linear Functional Analysis, Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Topological Methods and Variational Methods, etc. He has supervised more than 10 master's and doctoral students in total, among whom 5 PhD graduates have completed their studies.
Family: His father Wei Yanren graduated from Normal University; his mother is Lu Qiaoe, and he has an older brother and older sister. His wife Yu Zhen is a faculty member at Shandong University of Construction; his son Wei Dongyi, born in 1981 in Jinan, Shandong, is an assistant professor at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Peking University, and a researcher in the Differential Equations Teaching and Research Office.
