Introduction
Gu Liping’s father was originally a trumpet player in a military band, where he spent years engaged in cultural and musical work within the armed forces. After leaving the military, he was assigned to an engineering team at Beijing’s Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan), where he served as the Party branch secretary, responsible for local management and organizational affairs.
During his tenure, he became acquainted with several officials and cultural figures from the Communist Youth League Central Committee, earning respect for his modest and diligent character. These connections eventually linked his family to individuals within the political and cultural circles of Beijing.
Through mutual acquaintances, he later introduced his daughter, Gu Liping, to Ling Jihua, who at the time was the head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Youth League Central Committee. Their introduction led to the couple’s eventual marriage.
