Introduction
Gurun Princess Shou'an was born on May 12, 1826, during the sixth year of the reign of the Daoguang Emperor, into the Qing dynasty. She was the fourth daughter of the Daoguang Emperor and Empress Xiaoquancheng. Her birth date corresponds to the sixth day of the fourth lunar month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
She had at least two full siblings: Gurun Princess Duanshun and Yizhu, who later became the Xianfeng Emperor. The family lineage situates her within the prominent imperial family structure of the Qing dynasty, which was ruled by the Manchu Aisin Gioro clan.
In 1841, Gurun Princess Shou'an married Demchüghjab, a member of the Borjigit clan, a distinguished Mongolian noble family. Upon her marriage, she was granted the title of Gurun Princess Shou'an, a princely title designated for imperial princesses in the Qing court.
She lived during a period marked by internal and external challenges to the Qing empire, though her personal biography does not detail her involvement in political or court affairs.
Gurun Princess Shou'an died in the tenth year of the reign of the Xianfeng Emperor, which corresponds to 1860. Her death occurred at the age of approximately 33 years. Following her death, her husband Demchüghjab requested permission in 1862 to move her coffin from Beijing, but this request was denied by the empress dowagers Cixi and Ci'an. Demchüghjab remained unmarried after her death and passed away in 1865.
No additional information about her posthumous titles, specific activities, or roles within the imperial family is provided in the available references. Her life remains documented mainly through her familial relations and her marriage, characteristic of many Qing princesses of her era.
