Introduction

Shouzhuang Gulun Princess, a princess of the Qing Dynasty, the ninth daughter of Emperor Daoguang. Her biological mother was Lady Lin Wuyashi. She was born on the 13th day of the twelfth lunar month in the twenty-second year of Daoguang's reign, corresponding to March 24, 1842, in the Gregorian calendar. In the fifth year of Xianfeng (1855), she was awarded the title of Shouzhuang Heshuo Princess, and was engaged to Bo Luote, a first-class Chengyong Gong, and his third son, Dehui. In the sixth year of Xianfeng (1856), due to financial difficulties, the princess's residence used gilded silver items; the palace often borrowed items such as seats and tables for the Ning Shou Palace East Courtyard, with a list recording ninety-six wooden objects and others.

In November of the second year of Tongzhi (1863), she was formally married. Shortly after marriage, a conflict arose between the head eunuch managing her residence and officials of the Imperial Household Department; thus, affairs of the princess’s residence were handled by Ming Shan, and subsequent financial arrangements were adjusted. Less than a month after her marriage, her father-in-law, Yuheng, passed away, and her brother-in-law, De Chong, inherited the title. In January of the fourth year of Tongzhi (1865), Heshuo Dehui also died; the princess had no children. She once adopted De Chong’s son Lianying as her heir, but he died a year later.

In the fifth year of Tongzhi (1866), both of her full brothers, the sons of her birth mother Lady Lin, died in succession; her mother Lady Lin also passed away shortly after. On October 25, of the seventh year of Guangxu (1881), as the only surviving imperial daughter, the princess and her niece, Rong Shou Guliun princess, were both elevated to Guliun princesses, granted by the Empress Dowager Cixi with the imperial edict of blessing and protection, and received sedan chairs. She died on the 14th day of the second month of the tenth year of Guangxu (1884), at the age of 42. On February 19 of the tenth year of Guangxu (1884), her brother-in-law’s younger brother, Imperial Guard De Feng, requested to take her son, A Kedong A, as her successor.

In terms of film and television works, in the 2012 TV series "The Great Eunuch" produced by TVB, the character of the princess was played by Chen Yine. However, the storyline deviates from historical fact, as the princess had already passed away due to illness at the end of Tongzhi’s reign.
