Lauren Bush Lauren (born Lauren Pierce Bush on June 25, 1984) is an American businesswoman known for her roles as the CEO and co-founder of FEED Projects, a social business organization aimed at combating hunger. She has also had a career as a fashion model and designer.
Born in Colorado, Lauren Bush Lauren was raised in Houston, Texas. She is a daughter of Neil Bush and Sharon Bush (née Smith). Her familial relations include being the granddaughter of former U.S. president George H. W. Bush, and she is related to former U.S. president George W. Bush and former Florida governor Jeb Bush.
In her early education, she attended The Kinkaid School in Houston, where she completed her high school education. During her senior year, she interned for the NBC television show "Friends" and participated in the debutante scene, making her formal debut at le Bal des débutantes in Paris in 2000, dressed in Dior haute couture.
For her higher education, Lauren Bush Lauren studied fashion design at BEBE and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She later attended Princeton University, where she graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and a certificate in photography. At Princeton, she was a member of The Ivy Club, one of the university's twelve eating clubs.
Professionally, Bush was signed with Elite Model Management and appeared on the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair. She modeled for brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch, and designer Gai Mattiolo, as well as Isaac Mizrahi. Her involvement in television included an internship on "Friends," where she made a cameo appearance, and an internship with designer Zac Posen alongside Ashley Olsen.
In 2005, she participated as a Student Ambassador for the World Food Program, traveling to Chad to contribute to hunger awareness initiatives. The following year, she launched FEED Projects, which is dedicated to fighting world hunger through products and fundraising activities on behalf of the United Nations World Food Programme.
In September 2008, Bush relaunched her fashion label under the name "Lauren Pierce," using her middle name instead of her surname. She explained that her decision was influenced by her surname's political associations and that "Pierce" was a family name from her grandmother and her brother.
Her activism includes leading FEED Projects, which has donated over 100 million meals as of October 2017 through product sales and fundraising efforts. Notable campaigns include FEED Supper, launched in 2014 to encourage dinner parties for hunger relief, and advocacy actions such as signing open letters addressed to world leaders on development priorities.
Lauren Bush Lauren has received numerous awards and honors, including being named the first National Lady Godiva Honoree of the Lady Godiva Program in 2012. She received the Advocacy Award from the World of Children Awards in 2013, recognizing her contributions through FEED Projects. Regarding personal life, Bush has been a vegetarian since age four. She began dating David Lauren, son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, in 2004. The couple married on September 4, 2011, in Colorado. They have three children: James Richard Lauren, born November 21, 2015; Max Walker Lauren, born April 19, 2018; and Robert Rocky Lauren, born April 10, 2021.
