Sharon Murray (née Smith, formerly Bush) was born on May 19, 1952. She is an American individual known for her involvement in philanthropy and business. Her parents are Alba M. Smith and Robert E.. Smith, an engineer who worked for the federal government and resided in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Murray graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1975 with a teaching degree. She initially worked as an elementary school teacher. Subsequently, she founded the Karitas Foundation, a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to supporting shelters for homeless and abused children.
In 1998, she established Teddy Share, a for-profit company that supports charities focused on children’s causes globally. In 2013, she took on a role overseeing business development at Protein Matrix, a company that manufactures biodegradable degreasing products designed to break down fats, oils, and grease to prevent clogs, overflows, and fire hazards. In 2017, she became the director of development for Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School, a private Catholic institution serving students from low-income backgrounds.
Murray was married to businessman Neil Bush from 1980 until their divorce in April 2003. Neil Bush was born on January 22, 1955. The marriage produced three children: Lauren Pierce Bush (born June 25, 1984), Pierce Mallon Bush (born March 11, 1986), and Ashley Walker Bush (born February 7, 1989). She has three grandsons and one granddaughter from her first marriage.
On November 30, 2019, Murray married Bob Murray at Central Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Bob Murray is a former managing director of Morgan Stanley & Company and the chief financial officer of the Public Service Enterprise Group. He is the son of Thomas F. Murray, who served as the chief investment officer of the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States.
In recognition of her contributions, Murray received the Outstanding Mother Award from the National Mother's Day Committee in 2001. Additionally, she was honored with the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction award in 2011.
