Introduction
Luo Jiaju (罗家驹) is a Hong Kong resident, born in Hong Kong, China. His family background traces back to the well-known textile entrepreneur Luo Dingbang (罗定邦), who was regarded as Hong Kong’s “knitwear king.” Luo Dingbang founded Luo’s Knitwear Fashion Company and became an important figure in Hong Kong’s textile industry. Luo Jiaju’s mother is Chen Chusi (陈楚思). Luo Jiaju is the sixth son of Luo Dingbang and Chen Chusi, and the family business background shaped his early commercial direction.
In his early years, Luo Jiaju took part in the family’s textile business, then gradually shifted his focus to the real estate sector. He established Jianhao Real Estate Company, concentrating on property development and investment. This business transition reflects a diversified industrial approach.
On the family front, Luo Jiaju has several children. His eldest daughter, Luo Beier (罗贝儿), died at age 34 in 2020 as the result of a medical accident during plastic surgery in South Korea; the death was attributed to medical negligence. Her spouse sought compensation from the hospital, but Luo Jiaju did not agree to allocate inheritance to his son-in-law. He also has a younger daughter, Luo Juner (罗君儿), who was kidnapped in 2015 and successfully rescued with police assistance. Luo Juner later wrote a book titled “Life Through Ordeals” (《历劫生命》) recounting the incident. In 2020 she married accountant Zhu Weikun (朱维堃).
Regarding the family estate, in 1996 Luo Dingbang made a will dividing his estate into three parts, and Luo Jiaju was present as one of the witnesses. In subsequent litigation over the estate, Luo Jiaju and other children questioned the authority of the executor, Luo Shukai (罗蜀凯). The court ultimately ruled that Luo Shukai must pay most of the litigation costs for the siblings and nieces/nephews, and confirmed that the estate should be administered according to Luo Dingbang’s testamentary wishes. These legal proceedings illustrate the complexity of intra-family property distribution and the role of the law in resolving family disputes.
As a noted Hong Kong entrepreneur, Luo Jiaju’s diversified business investments and family matters have attracted public attention in Hong Kong.
