Introduction

Luo Dingbang, male, birth and death years unknown, lived and worked in Hong Kong and the Shunde area. He made significant contributions to education, founding several schools to promote local educational development. In 1991 he established Luo Dingbang Secondary School in Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong, located on Ma Cong Road; it is one of Hong Kong’s six English-medium secondary schools. The school was sponsored by the Luo Trust Fund and became a Direct Subsidy (DSS) secondary school in 2008, undergoing a five-year transition to gradually implement a new teaching system.

He also had an important influence in Daliang, Shunde, where he founded Luo Dingbang Secondary School (formerly Shunde City Daliang Secondary School). This is a full-time boarding school aimed at cultivating a new generation of university students. It is located on Xingui South Road in Shunde District, in a pleasant environment near Shunfengshan Park. The establishment of both schools reflects his attention to and investment in education.

Luo Dingbang was active in social welfare and strongly supported the construction and education of his hometown. During a return visit in 1993, witnessing his hometown’s achievements inspired his patriotism and affection for his native place. He generously funded the construction of Luo Dingbang Secondary School, which can accommodate 1,500 students, providing good conditions for local talent cultivation. His actions earned him the respect and praise of local residents.

His family members included his wife Chen Chusi; eldest son Luo Lefeng; second son Luo Shukai; fourth son and veteran property investor Luo Jiabao; and sixth son Luo Jiaju. His granddaughter Luo Yingyi is among his descendants. Luo Jiabao is identified as his father.

Luo Dingbang died on August 13, 1996, at the age of 86. Four months before his death he drew up a will, transferring family company interests, some cash, properties, and stocks to his second son Luo Shukai or his designated agent for management according to his wishes. He divided his assets into three parts: one portion for family descendants, one for charity, and one for an estranged (missing) son.

His legacy and influence continue, particularly in education, demonstrating his sense of responsibility to society and his hometown.
