Introduction
Sir John Conway Colthurst, 2nd Bt., was the son of Lady Charlotte FitzMaurice, who was the daughter of Thomas FitzMaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry. He was a descendant related to John Petty, 1st Earl of Shelburne, who was the son of Thomas FitzMaurice. William Petty, 2nd Earl of Shelburne, was the son of John Petty, 1st Earl of Shelburne, and served as a British Prime Minister. Lady Charlotte FitzMaurice died in 1774 and was the daughter of the Irish politician Thomas FitzMaurice.
