Rong Zhiquan

Rong Zhiquan was born in Shanghai and raised in Hong Kong. In his family connections, he is the nephew of Rong Yiren. His main professional background is centered in Hong Kong's textile and financial industries. He has served as the general manager of Nanyang Spinning Mill in Hong Kong and has also been the chairman of the Hong Kong Textile Industry Association. Additionally, Rong Zhiquan is a member of the Hong Kong Basic Law Drafting Advisory Committee.

In terms of education, Rong Zhiquan graduated from Cornell University in the United States with a bachelor's degree in economics and obtained an MBA from the University of Chicago. His contributions to academia include establishing the "Rong Zhiquan Scholarship" at his hometown institution, Jiangnan College, which awards 15 students facing economic hardships annually, each with 1,000 RMB.

Throughout his career, Rong Zhiquan has shown interest in China's mainland enterprise management, including co-running a spinning mill in Shenzhen. His management philosophy emphasizes adaptability, product quality, and customer service. He has stated that factory managers should have clear responsibilities and authority over rewards and punishments to achieve effective factory management. Regarding enterprise management, he also stressed that adaptability means the ability to adjust production based on customer needs, and that high-quality service combined with active sales strategies are crucial for business development.

Rong Zhiquan has held leadership roles in multiple financial and corporate groups, including vice executive director of Nanyang Group Limited, chairman of Baofeng Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited and Shanghai Commercial Bank Limited, and director of Shanghai Commercial Savings Bank Limited. He has also served as a director of Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited, a member of the Securities and Futures Commission's Advisory Committee, and vice chairman of the Hong Kong Textile Industry Federation Limited.

His social honors include being appointed as a member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1989. Rong Zhiquan is also vice president of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, a member of the Asian division of the University of Chicago International Advisory Council, and a member of the 11th Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

In terms of wealth, Rong Zhiquan's family assets were valued at 8.5 billion RMB, ranking 618th on the Hurun Rich List in October 2024. On March 27, 2025, the Hurun Research Institute released the "2025 Hurun Global Rich List," in which Rong Zhiquan's family wealth was estimated at 9 billion RMB, placing them at rank 2,878.
