Hong Daren

Hong Daren was born in 2013 in Hong Kong, China. His father is Hong Tianming and his mother is Zhou Jiawei. His grandfather is the well-known martial arts actor and director Sammo Hung (Hung Jinbao). At birth he weighed about 6.6 jin (≈3.3 kg).

After Hong Daren's birth, Hong Tianming told the media that his appearance resembled that of his grandfather, Sammo Hung. In January 2015, Hong Daren made his first public appearance at a family dinner. At that time he stood out for a distinctive flat-mouth expression, which contrasted sharply with the broad smiles of Hong Tianming, Zhou Jiawei, and actor Andy Lau (Liu Dehua).

Hong Daren's performing career began in 2018. That year he and his father, Hong Tianming, participated together in the Youku variety show "想想办法吧!爸爸" (roughly: "Think of a Way, Dad!"). In their first appearance on the show he displayed a relatively mature temperament and showed good English communication skills. His interactions with his younger brother, Hong Jingxuan, were regarded as warm and affectionate. Hong Tianming used the program to try to project a warmer fatherly image, while Zhou Jiawei hoped to use it as an opportunity to improve temper issues in the father–son relationship. The broadcast of the show brought public attention to Hong Daren for his good looks and well-behaved manner.

Beyond his on-screen work, Hong Daren has shown distinct personality traits in family life. Reports noted that his facial expressions at family dinners reflected a strong personal character and attracted media attention. His family relationships, early public appearances, and variety-show exposure are important parts of his early life.
