Introduction
Zhou Jiawei (周家蔚) was born in Hong Kong, China. Her father is from Ningbo and her mother is from Shandong. Her family immigrated to Canada when she was seven. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Toronto and worked at a local Chinese-language TV station while at university.
She competed in the Miss Chinese Toronto pageant in 2004 and performed well. In 2006 she entered the Miss Hong Kong pageant and won first runner-up and the “Miss Photogenic” award. That same year she stood in for Miss Hong Kong champion Mandy Chen (陳茵媺) to represent Hong Kong at the Miss World pageant held in Poland.
In 2007 Zhou appeared in the first episode of Hunan TV’s variety show “Dancing Miracles” (舞动奇迹), gradually emerging in the entertainment field. In 2009 she took part in TVB Jade’s variety program “Super Trio” (铁甲无敌奖门人), beginning to move into acting. She subsequently took roles in a number of TV dramas and films, including the martial-arts drama “Iron Horse Seeking Bridge” (铁马寻桥) and the comedy film “72 Tenants” (72家租客), which was released in 2010. Her television credits include appearances in “Everyday Is Sunny” (天天天晴), “Homefront Squad” (居家兵团), “Star-Picking Journey” (摘星之旅), “Heart Battle” (心战) and “Mind-reading Detective” (读心神探), among others.
From 2010 onward, Zhou frequently participated in variety shows, television dramas and films, becoming a regular guest on multiple Hong Kong programs. In 2011 she starred with Yue Hua (岳华) and Au Kam-tong (欧锦棠) in the RTHK-produced modern comedy “Whose Kitchen Has No Smoke?” (谁家灶头无烟火), and also joined the cast of several TVB series. In 2012 she played important roles in productions such as “Love Beyond the Coastline” (情越海岸线) and “The King Maker” (造王者), and continued to appear on various variety programs and in charitable activities.
Between 2013 and 2016 Zhou increasingly took part in variety and reality shows, including “Super Trio Ultimate Edition” (超级无敌奖门人终极篇) and “DO Sister Has a Question” (DO姐有问题). In 2019 she appeared on the talk show “Friends’ Table VIP” (友枱VIP), and in 2020 she featured on the reality program “Think of a Way, Dad!” (想想办法吧!爸爸).
In her personal life, Zhou registered her marriage with husband Hong Tianming (洪天明) on November 11, 2011. Their wedding ceremony took place in 2012 at the W Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. The couple have two sons: Hong Daren (洪大仁), born in 2013, and Hong Jingyi (洪竟琋), born in 2015.
She received the first runner-up title and the “Miss Photogenic” award at the 2006 Miss Hong Kong pageant. Public commentary has described her as cheerful, good at dancing and reading, and like a girl-next-door, though she has also faced incidents such as a drunk-driving case and disputes concerning her marriage.
