Introduction

Li Xianyi was born in 1952 in Yongning Ziying Village, Shishi City, Fujian Province. He dropped out of school at an early age and left school at the age of 15 to support his family. In the early 1980s, he moved to Hong Kong to begin his business career, starting with a small auto parts company operating in Hong Kong. Relying on his keen business acumen and relentless efforts, he gradually gained prominence in Hong Kong's business circles, and in 1985, he established XinYi Group (Glass) Co., Ltd., focusing on the production of automobile glass and related products.

After several years of development, Li Xianyi founded XinYi Group in Henggang, Shenzhen, producing various safety glass such as automotive, construction, and bulletproof glass. By 2009, his enterprise ranked third in the global industry, with products primarily exported to North America, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East, making it one of the internationally renowned automobile glass suppliers. His company was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2005.

In the industry, Li Xianyi expanded his enterprise through acquisitions, notably acquiring Shenzhen Nanshan Automobile Glass Company, which promoted industry consolidation. Additionally, he promoted the development of new low-emission coating glass both domestically and internationally to address challenges posed by global warming.

As a shrewd entrepreneur, he demonstrated a firm stance on anti-dumping cases. In 2001, when the United States imposed anti-dumping duties on Chinese exports of automobile windshields, Li Xianyi was the first to respond to the lawsuit and successfully defended against it, earning a good reputation for Chinese companies in the industry. He also proactively engaged in capital operations, making multiple significant acquisitions to strengthen market share.

Li Xianyi has also contributed notably to social welfare. Over the years, he has donated more than 81 million yuan to support education, public safety, and cultural initiatives. In his hometown Quanzhou, he established the Li Xianyi Education Foundation, building industrial workshops and dormitories used for scholarships and educational development. In 2024, he again donated approximately 210 million yuan to fund a nine-year public school, which was donated free of charge to the government.

In various social roles, Li Xianyi serves as Chairman of the Board of Xinyi Glass Holdings Limited of Hong Kong, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, an advisor to the China Justice and Valor Foundation, a standing member of the Fujian Provincial CPPCC, and Honorary President of the Quanzhou Overseas Friendship Association. His personal honors include rankings on various wealthy and charitable lists published by Forbes and Hurun.

Regarding his family, his son, Li Shenggen, married Beijing tennis player Yan Zi in 2009. With his successful business achievements, sense of social responsibility, and deep affection for his hometown, Li Xianyi has gained widespread respect both domestically and internationally.
