Introduction

Li Anqi, born in 1986, is a woman of Chinese descent who grew up in the United States. Her father is former gymnastics world champion Li Xiaoping and her mother is former gymnast Wen Jia. She was born and raised in the U.S. and received a traditional Chinese-style upbringing; she is an American of Chinese heritage.

Her family also includes a sister, Li Anling. Li Anqi grew up in the U.S. and once showed notable gymnastics talent on the international sports stage; her family background gave her influences from both athletics and the arts. Her early development was shaped jointly by her father Li Xiaoping and her mother Wen Jia.

In 2003, Li Anqi met Chinese Olympic champion Li Xiaopeng in Anaheim, California, and they began a relationship. In 2005, while Li Xiaopeng was in the U.S. for treatment of an injury, he lived with Li Anqi for a time and their relationship deepened. The couple appeared publicly as partners for the first time on January 7, 2009. They were married on June 3, 2010, in California, and held a wedding banquet in Beijing on July 11 of the same year. Li Xiaopeng announced his retirement in 2010, and the two later appeared together on several variety shows.

Li Anqi and Li Xiaopeng have two children. Their daughter Olivia (Chinese name Li Xinqi) was born on January 12, 2012, in Los Angeles, California. Their second child, a son nicknamed “Oreo,” was born in the U.S. on May 11, 2016. Li Xiaopeng confirmed on December 25, 2015, that Li Anqi was expecting their second child.

In public life, Li Anqi has appeared on a number of variety programs, including A Date with Luyu (2012), Xie Tian Xie Di Ni Lai La (2013), Very Quiet Distance (2014), Happy Camp (2014), The Amazing Race (Chinese version, 2014), and Set Off, Love (2015). She has also taken part in multiple charity activities and shown an interest in public welfare.

Regarding her language ability, Li Anqi’s frequent use of English on variety programs sparked some controversy. Li Xiaopeng later explained in interviews that her Chinese is limited because she grew up in the United States and is still learning the language.

Li Anqi is described as modest, kind, and elegant, with a warm and approachable manner. In the view of the public and media, the family relationship she shares with Li Xiaopeng is characterized by mutual respect and trust.
