Dai Chenggong

Dai Chenggong, born on March 19, 1921, is the granddaughter of Sun Yat-sen. Her father is Dai Ensai, and her mother is Sun Wan. In the winter of 1921, Sun Wan gave birth to a daughter, Dai Chenggong, whom Sun Yat-sen greatly loved and personally named "Chenggong" (meaning "Success"). This name symbolized the success of the revolution led by Sun Yat-sen and also expressed hope that the granddaughter would achieve great accomplishments in the future.

In February 1929, Dai Ensai was appointed as the plenipotentiary ambassador of the Nationalist Government to Brazil. Subsequently, Sun Wan entrusted her two children—Dai Chenggong and her brother Dai Yongfeng—to their maternal grandmother, Lu Muzhen, in Macau for upbringing. Sun Wan then accompanied her husband to Brazil and resided there during his tenure, living a life in Brazil during that period.

In 1949, Sun Wan and her children moved to Macau, where she lived long-term. During this time, to care for her aging mother, Sun Wan did not remarry. Dai Chenggong remained unmarried throughout her life, dedicating herself to caring for her family and her mother.

On April 9, 1991, Dai Chenggong died in Macau at the Mirror Lake Hospital due to severe diabetes leading to kidney failure. Her funeral was held with great solemnity, attended by representatives from various sectors of Macau and relevant central government departments. Floral wreaths were also sent by organizations including the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council, the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, the Macau Branch of Xinhua News Agency, the Hong Kong Branch, and the Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference. Throughout her life, Dai Chenggong loved her homeland, cared about national reunification, and, in the 1980s, served as a member of the Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference.

Dai Chenggong's family members include her father Dai Ensai, her mother Sun Wan, and her grandfather Sun Yat-sen. Her parents held significant positions in the family, and she was known for her concern for her country and dedication to her family.
