Xi Zhongkai (November 26, 1920 – October 5, 2000) was born in Zhonghe Village, Dan Town, Fuping County, Shaanxi Province, into a farming family. He was the younger brother of Xi Zhongxun, a prominent revolutionary leader of the Chinese Communist Party.

Xi Zhongkai’s childhood was marked by hardship. At the age of six, his elder brother Xi Zhongxun, then only thirteen, had already joined the revolution. Meanwhile, the family endured years of famine, and both parents passed away, leaving the children in difficult circumstances. To sustain the household, Xi Zhongxun would often carry slabs of salt more than fifty kilometers to the Malan area of Xunyi County, trading them for corn, sorghum, and buckwheat. Growing up, Xi Zhongkai was raised under the care and influence of his elder brother.

During the Anti-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War, Xi Zhongkai took part in revolutionary work. He served in various posts, including Head of the Propaganda Section of the CCP Zhun Yao County District Committee, Secretary of the CCP Malan District Committee, Deputy Minister and later Minister of the Organization Department of the CCP Xinzheng County Committee, Deputy Secretary of the County Party Committee, and Vice President of the Cadre School of the Xianyang Prefectural Committee.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Zhongkai continued his political career, serving as Party Secretary of Yao County, Director of several divisions within the Shaanxi Provincial Organization Department, Deputy Minister of the Provincial Organization Department, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Commerce, and Deputy Leader of the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative Leadership Group. He also dedicated significant efforts to compiling organizational history and later served as Advisor to the Provincial Organization Department and Head of the Provincial Leadership Group for the Compilation of Organizational History Materials.

In October 1993, Xi Zhongkai retired. He passed away in Shaanxi on October 5, 2000, at the age of 79. His life reflected resilience and dedication, shaped by the revolutionary influence of his elder brother Xi Zhongxun, and he contributed greatly to local Party affairs and organizational development.
