Cao Quanfan joined the revolution and the Communist Party in 1938. He later studied at Yan'an Anti-Japanese University and became an outstanding military instructor. In 1945, he married Mao Yuanzhi, the niece of Mao Zedong, and they had three sons and one daughter. After the country’s liberation, he worked in various departments, including the Jiangxi Provincial Women's Federation and the Central Organization Department. Following the founding of the People's Republic, he served as a military secretary in the General Office of the Central Military Commission and as the principal of the "Five-Seven" Cadre School, and was awarded the rank of colonel. Cao Quanfan passed away on November 24, 2017, due to illness, at the age of 96.
