Deng Xianfu, born in March 1930 in Guang'an, Sichuan, is the daughter of Xia Bogen, the stepmother of Deng Xiaoping. Her early education began at a girls' middle school, during which she participated in various revolutionary movements. In 1945, at the age of only 15, Deng Xianfu joined the Guang'an student movement and, together with her mother, was involved in rescuing wounded soldiers of the Huaying Mountain Guerrilla Unit.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Deng Xianfu worked in the Sichuan provincial party organ, where she served for several decades. Her positions included archivist, section chief, deputy director of the Secretariat, director of the archives, and assistant research officer in the General Office. Starting from April 1983, she served two consecutive terms as a member of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), actively offering suggestions for local economic and social development during her tenure. She retired in September 1998 but remained concerned about national and people's affairs, paying attention to the production and daily lives of the populace.
In terms of family relations, Deng Xianfu maintained close ties with Deng Xiaoping, and her siblings also received Deng Xiaoping’s care. In 1950, Deng Xiaoping relocated her, Xia Bogen, and other family members from Guang'an to Chongqing, where they lived together. She studied at the Fifth Regiment of the Southwest Military and Political University in Chongqing. Deng Xiaoping accompanied her in Beidaihe, Hebei, to celebrate her 84th birthday on August 22, 1988.
Deng Xianfu’s husband was Zhang Zhongren, who once served as director of the Sichuan Provincial Archives Bureau. Throughout her life, she upheld revolutionary ideals and dedicated herself to the building of new China. She experienced the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, and the establishment of the new China, continuously striving to realize the ideals of communism. According to a summary from the General Office of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, Deng Xianfu was known for her upright conduct, humility, modesty, willingness to contribute, low profile, and strict adherence to the Party's discipline and integrity rules.
