Introduction
is the daughter of Takatsukasa Masahiro, a kugyō or Japanese court noble of the Edo period. She is the granddaughter of Takatsukasa Masamichi, another kugyō of the late Edo period, and the great-granddaughter of Takatsukasa Sukehiro, a Japanese noble who lived from 1807 to 1878. Her lineage also includes Tokudaiji Kin'ito, son of Takatsukasa Sukehiro and who lived from 1821 to 1883, and Saionji Kinmochi, a Japanese politician who lived from 1849 to 1940.
