Introduction
Prince Kan'in Naruhito (閑院宮 愛仁親王, Kan'in-no-miya Naruhito-ō) was born on February 17, 1818. He was a member of the Japanese Imperial Family and the fifth head of the Kan'in-no-miya line, a cadet branch of the shinnōke, which were branches of the Imperial Family designated to provide potential heirs to the throne.
In 1828, following the death of Prince Kan'in Tatsuhito, Naruhito succeeded as the head of the Kan'in-no-miya line. His tenure as head of the branch began in that year and lasted until his death.
Prince Kan'in Naruhito died on October 20, 1842. His death marked the end of his direct leadership of the Kan'in-no-miya line because he left no heirs to carry on the title. As a result, the title of Prince Kan'in remained vacant or dormant after his death.
Following his death, the next prince to succeed in the Kan'in-no-miya line was Prince Kan'in Kotohito, who was chosen in 1872. Prince Kan'in Kotohito was selected from the Fushimi-no-miya branch, which was another cadet branch of the Imperial Family.
The information provided includes his birth and death dates, his position within the imperial family, and details about succession within the Kan'in-no-miya line. No additional personal details, such as education, specific activities, or family lineage beyond his immediate succession, are included.
