Introduction
Prince August of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1770–1822) was the son of Princess Augusta of Great Britain, who was the daughter of Frederick, Prince of Wales. Frederick, Prince of Wales, was the son of George II of Great Britain, who reigned as King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1727 to 1760, and served as heir apparent to the British throne from 1727 until his death.
