Liu Xuegen

Liu Xuegen, born in Shanghai, China, is part of the "Old Third Class" educated youth. He once went to the countryside to undergo labor training. After returning to the city, he joined the Shanghai Water Supply Company, where he served as a driver. In terms of family life, he married Jifenhua on July 13, 1983, and shortly after the wedding, they welcomed their eldest son, Liu Xiang.

Liu Xuegen's educational background has not been fully disclosed, but his career began at the Shanghai Water Supply Company as a driver. He plays an important role in his family and has a profound influence on the growth of his children. The birth of Liu Xiang marked an important milestone for the family; his upbringing is closely linked to his father's guidance.

In 2005, Liu Xuegen was awarded the title of "National Model Family"; in 2008, he participated in the Olympic torch relay in Beijing. In 2010, he was shortlisted in the "Shanghai Good Man" selection, demonstrating his positive social and family image.

Liu Xuegen actively participates in his children's education, especially showing steadiness and care when Liu Xiang faced setbacks in his athletic career. In 2008, Liu Xiang competed in the 110-meter hurdles at the London IAAF Diamond League in the UK, where he finished first in his heat with a time of 13.27 seconds but withdrew from the final due to a back injury. That year was a rollercoaster for Liu Xuegen. During Liu Xiang’s athletic low point, he supported him through companionship and heartfelt conversations, helping him overcome the shadow of setbacks. His focus not only was on his children's athletic performance but also on their character development, worried about external influences adversely affecting them. After experiencing setbacks, Liu Xiang gradually recovered and displayed a new competitive state at the Shanghai Grand Prix and the National Games, showing resilience and the spirit of perseverance.

Liu Xuegen’s family and personal achievements have been recognized multiple times by society, highlighting his sense of responsibility as a father and family member. His life experience is rich, encompassing both the professional life of an ordinary worker and active participation in public events, reflecting his steady sense of family and social responsibility.
