Introduction
Zhu Yuanshan, also known as Zhu Yutang, was the sixth-generation descendant of the Tangpo Zhu clan.
The Tangpo Zhu lineage traces back to Zhu Qian, Prince of Min, the eighteenth son of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming dynasty. During the late Ming uprisings, Zhu Xiaolu, a descendant of the Prince of Min, relocated the family from Wugang to Tangpo in Changsha, where the clan gradually flourished.
As an important figure in this lineage, Zhu Yuanshan carried forward the continuation and development of the Zhu family in Hunan.
His descendants included Zhu Zidian (Zhu Changlin) and Zhu Zigui (Zhu Changfan), whose later generations produced Zhu Fangxu and ultimately Zhu Rongji, former Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
