Zhu Changlin, courtesy name Zidien, was the seventh-generation descendant of the Tangpo Zhu clan and a descendant of Zhu Qian, Prince of Min, the eighteenth son of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming dynasty.
He continued the Zhu family’s settlement and development in Tangpo, Changsha, which had begun when Zhu Xiaolu relocated there from Wugang during the late Ming uprisings.
Zhu Changlin had several sons, including Zhu Fangyi, Zhu Fanglun, and Zhu Fande (also known as Zhu Enfu), whose branch grew steadily during the Qing dynasty.
Together with his brother Zhu Changfan (Zhu Zigui), Zhu Changlin helped consolidate the foundations of the Tangpo Zhu lineage, which in later generations produced Zhu Rongji, former Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
