Introduction
Sun Yali, female, was born in Hong Kong and later studied overseas. She worked in film in Los Angeles, Australia, France, and various parts of China. She is the grandniece of Sun Yat-sen, great-granddaughter of Sun Mei, and the daughter of Sun Man. In 1989, she returned with her father to Zhongshan to honor their ancestors, and since then has made multiple visits to Sun Yat-sen’s former residence.
In 2016, on the 150th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen’s birth, Sun Yali founded the Sun Yat-sen Cultural Foundation and has served as its president to this day.
In 2021, during the 110th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, she led the descendants of Sir James Cantlie to visit Sun Yat-sen’s former residence virtually and organized the themed exchange activity “Two Families, Two Nations, One Locomotive.” At the opening of the “National Selection of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Halls” exhibition at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou, her discourse on the connection between Sun Yat-sen’s concept of “the world belongs to all” and the idea of a community with a shared future for mankind was displayed.
In family history education activities, Sun Yali has emphasized that young people should learn from China’s outstanding traditional culture and carry forward the spirit of rejuvenating the Chinese nation.
