Introduction

Duan Jing'an and Hui Fei (1429 – November 23, 1485), surname Wang, given name unknown, native of Daxing County, Shuntian Prefecture, Zhili Province. She was the daughter of Wang Bin, a hundred household officer of the Jinyiwei with a sixth-rank official title, and her mother was Lady Fan. Born in the 4th year of the Xuande era (1429), she was selected into the inner court in the 8th year of the Xuande era (1433). In the 12th year of the Zhengtong era (1447), she gave birth to the third princess, Princess Jiashan. During the 14th year of Zhengtong (1449), she was captured during the Tumu Fortress crisis; after the capture of Ming Emperor Yingzong Zhu Qizhen, her husband’s son, Zhu Qiyu, ascended the throne. On April 3rd, in the first year of the Jingtai era (1450), Wang Shi gave birth to the emperor's fourth son, Zhu Jianchun. In August of the same year, Emperor Yingzong was released and returned to the court, being confined in the southern palace, with Hui Fei accompanying him. In the 8th year of Jingtai (1457), Emperor Yingzong was restored to the throne, and Hui Fei was promoted to noble consort. On April 13th of the first year of Tiashun (1457), she was officially conferred the title of Hui Fei. On February 22nd of the 8th year of Tiashun (1464), Emperor Yingzong passed away; Hui Fei remained a widow and was not buried with him. She died on November 23rd, 1485, at the age of 57, with the posthumous title "Duan Jing An He." She was buried in Jingshan, Beijing.
