Harriet Holmes

Harriet Holmes was born on November 2, 1789, and died on January 21, 1869. She was the mother of James Henry Sheldon, who was born on January 22, 1816, and died on September 4, 1871. James Henry Sheldon was the father of Mary Cornelia Sheldon, born in 1842 in Martinsburg, New York, and who died on January 8, 1908. Mary Cornelia Sheldon was the mother of John Sheldon Doud, born on November 10, 1870, in Boone, Iowa, and died on June 20, 1951, in Denver, Colorado. John Sheldon Doud was a meatpacking executive with investments in Illinois and Iowa stockyards, who retired at age 36. He married Elivera Mathilda Carlson in 1891. Their daughter, Mamie Eisenhower, became the First Lady of the United States from 1953 to 1961, as the wife of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
