Introduction

Tanichi Ishibashi (August 15, 1913 – September 7, 2003) was a Japanese educator. He was born in Tokyo (then Tokyo City), and his father was Ishibashi Tanzan, who served as Prime Minister of Japan. After graduating in 1937 from the Department of Economics at Waseda University’s Faculty of Political Science and Economics, he joined Mitsubishi Bank. He worked at Mitsubishi Bank until 1968, when he retired and then joined Mitsubishi Edogawa Chemical (now Mitsubishi Gas Chemical).

In 1969, he became a trustee of Rissho University, serving as executive director, managing director, and acting president until 1983. Additionally, from 1970, he was a visiting professor at Rissho University, a position he held until 1988. Beyond these activities, he served as a director of the Ishibashi Tanzan Memorial Foundation and from 1973, as its chairman.

Regarding his family, he has a daughter named Kumiko. Kumiko is married to Masaaki Adachi, the grandson of Masaaki Adachi, who served as president of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
