Introduction

Yunxu (允禑; 24 December 1693 – 8 March 1731) was a Qing dynasty prince, the fifteenth surviving son of the Kangxi Emperor. He was the first holder of the peerage Prince Yu of the Second Rank.

== Early Life ==

Yunxu was born on 24 December 1693 to Lady Wang, also known as Concubine Mi. His mother was a favored consort of the Kangxi Emperor. He had two full brothers: Yunlu, who held the title Prince Zhuangke of the First Rank, and Yinxie. Yunxu was raised with assistance from Consort De. In 1708, a marriage alliance was established when Lady Guwalgiya, daughter of Shi Wenbing and sister of the Crown Prince's wife, was betrothed to him.

== Court Career ==

Despite familial ties to the Crown Prince Yunreng—being related by marriage and raised alongside Yunreng's children—Yunxu maintained a neutral stance during succession disputes. In September 1711, he accompanied the Kangxi Emperor on a tour to Rehe. Later that year, in December 1711, he participated in visits to the Eastern Qing tombs. In 1715, Yunxu again traveled with his father during an imperial inspection.

By Yongzheng Emperor's ascension, Yunxu had reached adulthood by age 20 (according to age reckoning), making him eligible to contend for the throne. However, he adopted a low profile, and his assigned duties included guarding the Jing mausoleum in the Eastern Qing tombs.

In 1726, Yunxu was granted the title of Prince of the Third Rank, a typical status for imperial sons. In 1731, he was promoted to Prince of the Second Rank with the honorific name "Yu" (愉).

== Death and Succession ==

Yunxu died on 8 March 1731. Posthumously, he was honored as Prince Yuke of the Second Rank. His successor was his eldest son, Hongqing.

== Family Background and Marriages ==

Yunxu's primary consort was from the Gūwalgiya clan, daughter of Shi Wenbing. They had several children, including a daughter born in 1716 who died in 1726, a daughter born in 1716 who died in 1717, a son born in 1718 who died in 1719, another son born in 1719 who died in 1720, and a daughter born in 1722 who died in 1730. The primary consort's second daughter married Dondob Dorji of the Dinghao Borjigin clan.

He also had a secondary consort from the Gūwalgiya clan, with whom he fathered a son named Hongqing and a son named Hongshou, the latter dying in 1731. Additionally, he had a fifth daughter born in 1729. His mistress was from the Du clan, with whom he fathered Hongfu, a third-class general of the First Rank.
