Emily Lydia Peto, who died in 1931, was the daughter of Samuel Morton Peto, a British politician, building contractor, and railway contractor who lived from 1809 to 1889. Her mother was Ann Peto, who was the daughter of Samuel Morton Peto and died in 1887. Ann Peto was married to James Alexander Campbell, a Scottish businessman and politician, who was the son of Janet Bannerman, who died in 1873. Henry Campbell-Bannerman, a British Prime Minister from 1905 to 1908, was also a descendant of Janet Bannerman.
