Introduction
Princess Fumiko (Fumiko Nai-shinō, January 16, 1883 – September 8, 1883) was a member of the Japanese imperial family and the fourth daughter of Emperor Meiji. Her mother was Tigisa Takatono Chigusanojo (Chigusano Taka to-ne no jo), the eldest daughter of Takamoto Chigusano. She was the full sister of Princess Shōko of Jigyō.
She was born on January 16, 1883, as the fourth imperial daughter (seventh child) of Emperor Meiji and Chigusanojo. However, she died just a few months after birth on June 8 of the same year due to meningitis caused by encephalitis lethargica. Accordingly, her lifespan was less than about seven months from birth.
There are references to related works and notes. In particular, in the work titled "The Reincarnated Princess Aiming to Be a Court Physician" (Sato An, 2018), it is depicted that a resident trainee doctor who died from overwork is reincarnated as Princess Shōko of Jigyō and grows up without dying young, eventually making a name for herself.
