Lady Fanny Cecil was the daughter of Robert Gascoyne-Cecil, the 3rd Marquess of Salisbury, who was a British politician and Prime Minister, and the granddaughter of James Gascoyne-Cecil, the 2nd Marquess of Salisbury and a British Conservative politician. She was also the sister of Lady Blanche Gascoyne-Cecil, and aunt to Arthur Balfour, who served as British Prime Minister and Conservative politician.
