Zhang Mouzhi

Zhang Mouzhi was born into a family of generations of farmers. His father farmed by Lake Pipa, and their family was impoverished. To support the family, his mother went to the city to work as a nanny. Through hard work, she earned the trust of her employer and sent her children to a church school for education. Zhang Mouzhi studied architecture at Tongwen Academy. With excellent academic results and fluent English, he started his own business after graduation, undertaking various construction projects and becoming a renowned builder in the Jiujiang and Lushan regions. His relatives included his wife, Mrs. Zhou, his sons Zhang Yuandong and Zhang Yuanxi (who later became the mayor of Jiujiang), and several daughters. Zhang Mouzhi’s efforts brought respect and status to his family, and his career achieved remarkable success.
