Introduction
Muercha was born on September 14, 1611 (the 39th year of the Wanli Emperor / eighth day of the eighth lunar month, Xin Hai year) and died on August 10, 1649 (the 3rd day of the seventh lunar month, the 6th year of the Shunzhi Emperor). He was a Manchu of the Aisin Gioro clan. His father was Nurhaci, the founding emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and his fourth son, Tanggu Dai. His mother was Nurhaci’s secondary wife from the Guwalija clan. He belonged to the Aisin Gioro imperial clan.
In his early years, Muercha held noble titles; initially, he was granted the rank of Third Class Fengguo General. In the fifth year of Chongde (1640), he inherited the title of Tanggu Dai and was promoted to Third Class Zhen Guo General. In the fourth year of the Shunzhi Emperor’s reign (1647), he was further promoted to Second Class Zhen Guo General, elevating his status within the military and political hierarchy. He died in the sixth year of the Shunzhi era (1649), and was posthumously given the temple name Ke Gung.
Muercha was married to his primary wife from the Dong’e clan; they had no children. There are no records of descendants of his wife or subsequent generations, and thus his noble title was revoked after his death. His life mainly centered around noble titles conferred by the imperial family and promotions; there are no records of significant military or political roles beyond these.
