Bai Lin, born in May 1938 in China (specific location not specified), was a member of the Chinese Communist Party and a revolutionary activist. In May 1938, she traveled to Yan'an to study at the Fourth Session of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Military and Political University. She officially joined the Chinese Communist Party in June of the same year. In July 1939, she transferred to the Chinese Women's University, completed her studies, and served as a document clerk in the General Office of the Central Political Research Office.

During the Liberation War, Bai Lin went to work in the Jin-Sui revolutionary base area, where she served as deputy head and then head of the Propaganda Department of the Political Department of the Jin-Sui Military Region, the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Jin-Sui Joint Defense Army, and the Northwestern Military Region Headquarters. During this period, she participated in land reform movements in the Jin-Sui border area, laying a foundation for the construction of the new China.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Bai Lin successively served as an assistant officer in the Political Department of the First Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and as director of the kindergarten of the Northwestern Military Region. In 1955, she began studying in the Department of Meteorology at Nanjing University, later serving as the Party Secretary of the Meteorology Department.

Starting in 1960, Bai Lin held multiple roles including deputy head of the preschool education section and deputy head of the administrative section in the Department of Popular Education under the Ministry of Education, as well as deputy director of the office. She also served as deputy director of the Office of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Education. Additionally, she was Deputy Minister of Propaganda of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party until her retirement in 1983.

Throughout her life, Bai Lin received numerous honors, including the Medal of the 60th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War in 2005, the Medal of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 2015, the Medal of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China in 2019, and the "Medal of Honor for 50 Years of Party Membership" in 2021.

Her family connections include her brothers Yang Yankang and Yang Shangkun. Her husband was Liao Hansheng. Bai Lin passed away in Beijing on November 29, 2021, at the age of 99.
