Yoshiko Kishi (born February 16, 1901 – June 14, 1980) was a Japanese politician and the wife of Shintaro Kishi, who served as Prime Minister of Japan. She was from Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Biography
She was born as the daughter of Shishi Kishi, a samurai from Yamaguchi Prefecture. Her place of birth is in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Regarding her education, she graduated from Jissen Girls' High School. Subsequently, she was enrolled in the Faculty of Law at Tokyo Imperial University (now the University of Tokyo).
In her personal life, she began cohabiting with her cousin, Shintaro Kishi (the adopted son of Nobusuke Kishi), with the intention of marriage. They married in 1921 (Taisho 10). After marriage, their first child, a son named Nobukazu, was born in 1921. They also had a daughter named Yoko in 1928 (Showa 3).
She passed away on June 14, 1980 (Showa 55), due to heart failure. She died at Sanno Hospital in Minato Ward, Tokyo, at the age of 79.
Family and Titles
Nobusuke Kishi served as the 56th and 57th Prime Minister of Japan. Yoshiko Kishi was his wife.
