Elizabeth Smith

Elizabeth Smith was born on May 5, 1703, in Northampton, Massachusetts, and died on January 12, 1778, in Brattleboro. She was the mother of Israel Smith, who was born on April 2, 1739, in Granby, Massachusetts, and died on June 7, 1811, in Bainbridge, New York. Elizabeth Smith was also the grandmother of Chloe Smith, born on November 10, 1762, in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and who died on February 17, 1847, in Brattleboro. Chloe Smith was the mother of Rutherford Hayes, Jr., who in turn was the father of Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th President of the United States, serving from 1877 to 1881.
