Wu Bo was born in Qingpu, Shanghai in 1917 and graduated from Wusong Middle School. In 1937, she joined the military, and in 1938, served as a shorthand secretary for Zhou Enlai at the Chongqing Eighth Route Army Office, also joining the Chinese Communist Party. In 1939, she was transferred to the Chongqing Red Rock Office; in 1940, she returned to Yan'an and married Ye Jianying. In 1941, she gave birth to daughter Ye Xiangzhen, who later became director Ling Zi. As a strong supporter of Ye Jianying, Wu Bo accompanied her husband in the抗日 war (War of Resistance Against Japan) and witnessed the country's liberation and the founding of New China. Coming from a wealthy family but dedicating herself to the revolution, she bore witness to and documented China's revolutionary journey and the nation's rise. On November 13, 2023, Wu Bo passed away in Beijing at the age of 106. Her life was one of revolution, struggle, and glory—a life forever commemorated.
