Sun Nan, male, born on February 18, 1969, in Shandong Province, grew up in an artistic family. His father was a tenor specializing in bel canto and ethnic singing, and his mother, sister, and brother all worked in a performing arts troupe. Surrounded by an artistic atmosphere at home, Sun Nan began learning to play the piano and guitar at an early age and had formed a band. He spent his childhood mostly in rural areas of Shandong, often accompanied by animals, and his love for animals became a part of his childhood memories. During his childhood, his mother, often busy with work, would leave him in cinemas, from where he remembered many movie songs.
During his teenage years, Sun Nan's aspiration was not originally to pursue music; he initially hoped to become a worker. After graduating from middle school, he worked at a construction site. His three-day wages were less than three yuan, but this experience sparked his understanding of society. Subsequently, he tried various professions, including welding, carpentry, electrician work, and street vending, totaling 11 different positions, which helped him accumulate rich social experience and also built his courage to face life's challenges.
In the early 1980s, Hong Kong and Taiwan's popular music began to enter mainland China. Sun Nan was attracted by its rhythm and joined a factory band as a drummer. During this period, he displayed exceptional musical talent. In 1987, he joined the coal mine art troupe, marking the beginning of his performing arts career. Three years later, Sun Nan joined the Dalian Song and Dance Troupe. In 1989, he released his first solo album, "Endless Love," officially entering the profession of a singer. Afterwards, he worked with various song and dance groups to gain performance experience.
Sun Nan’s performance career gradually expanded. In 1991, he joined the Central Song and Dance Troupe and became one of China's top ten singers. Many of his representative works are classic songs. He made multiple visits to Hong Kong, Singapore, and other places and appeared on international stages. In 1992, he became the first Chinese pop singer to hold a solo concert abroad. Since then, Sun Nan has released several albums and participated in various music festivals, concerts, and television programs.
In the early 2000s, Sun Nan successfully signed with a Hong Kong company, releasing several albums such as "We Are All Sad People," "Southern Lights," and "Burning." In 2001, he released a compilation album "Nan's Best Selections" and won the "Eastern Billboard" Best Male Singer award. Subsequently, he received many music awards, including "Mainland China’s Best Male Singer of the Year" and "Most Influential Mandarin Singer."
Throughout his career, Sun Nan has participated in many CCTV Spring Festival Galas, including the 2007 Winter Gala and several subsequent editions, performing many classic songs. In 2009, he sang the theme song for the movie "If You Are the One," with his musical works highly acclaimed.
Beyond music, Sun Nan has also ventured into film, variety shows, and social公益 activities. He has served as an ambassador for公益 for the Disabled Federation and a love messenger for the Wenchuan earthquake relief efforts.
